A state of stillness, calmness, and quiet in a person or place.
Cooking – real food, with purpose and spirit. Feeding people well. Fermenting stuff: beer, cider, wine, sauerkraut, yogurt, cheese.
Gardening, organically. Growing food to cook, can, keep.
Watching the weather. Wandering in the woods (usually with the dog). Respecting the planet and the awesome power of nature. Living away from the mainstream.
Doing everything with as much integrity as I can muster. Trying to be a decent human being.
Sanctimony, I'm afraid. But I'll try to keep a lid on it.
I live with my husband, my dog, my kitchen, and my garden in a little village in southern Vermont.
About my Name
My given name is Georgianne, but I've been called George for most of my life – when I was in the 5th grade, 'George' came as a welcome replacement for the 'Gigi' I despised as a child (even though it began as a taunt). As a grown-up I rediscovered Gigi, thanks to the French chef I worked with. Friends and family latched onto it, and I started using 'GG' as my online identity; family have adopted it as my 'sweetie' name.
Folks that know me may call me 'George' or 'GG' in comments, which might be confusing for stangers who (correctly) assumed me to be a woman. George or GG, I'm all girl.
